We have lots of pets that don't quite fit in a category, so this page is for them to show their stuff. You can see more and larger pictures of my critters here.

African Pygmy Mouse

Gir - deceased
This is the smallest rodent in the world, and that's a peanut she's eating. Isn't she precious? Purchased from breeders at the Texas Reptiles exotic pet show in Arlington in July 2004. She hides most of the time but is fascinating to watch when she's out and about. Named after the robot from Invader Zim. She died on November 22, 2004.

Ball Python

Puppy
Our ball python, who we got around the same time as the corn snakes. She's gorgeous, strong, and just a generally awesome pet to have. Named Puppy because at the time we couldn't have dogs where we lived - but we could have snakes.

Bearded Dragons

Baley - sold
Purchased from Lynn on the same date as Daneel. Baley is slightly larger than Daneel (one of the primary reasons we're keeping both our little girls in separate enclosures currently). Named after Elijah Baley from Isaak Asimov's robot novels despite being a girl. She was sold to an absolutely awesome family who I know will take wonderful care of her.
Daneel - deceased
Purchased from Lynn on September 18, 2004 at 2 1/2 inches body size. She has some lovely salmon coloring along her back and is the slighter of our two dragons. We got them in September of 2004. Named after the character from Isaak Asimov's robot novels because she is also the calmest of the two. Unfortunately she passed away in 2007.

Blue Moon Crab

Mr. Pinchy - deceased
Wes couldn't resist how brightly colored this little guy is, plus he was way cheap. We bought him on September 25, 2004 at the exotic pet show for $8. He's a skittish little thing and likes to hide in his cage, but he's quite pretty. Named after Homer's pet lobster in an episode of The Simpsons. Died in July 2005.

Corn Snakes

Knives - sold
We go three corn snakes on sale for a little under thirty bucks apiece at PetCo. They were purchased on September 4, 2004. Knives is a snow pattern and is beautiful! His temperment thus far is consistent with the others, mostly mild with bursts of being antisocial. They're all relatively nice, though. He is named after Knives from Trigun. Sold to our friend Jessie on January 22, 2005 and renamed Petal. Still active and thriving with her in New Mexico.
Midvalley
A "butter" corn snake. He's gorgeous, and we got him at the North American Reptile Breeders Conference on February 8, 2009. It's the second year in a row I went to the show sick, but it was worth it to bring him home. Unfortunately he passed away several months afterward despite being active and a good eater.
Vash
An okeetee corn. It's the standard pattern, but it seems to appear most rarely in PetCo, which is odd. He's gorgeous and the largest of the snakes. Named after the char from Trigun, naturally.
Wolfwood
The smallest of the snakes. He's a sweet little guy and really pretty. Once again named for the Trigun char. He's not small by any means anymore, and he and Vash make lovely cagemates.

Gargoyle Geckos

Drusilla - deceased
Purchased from Clarissa because she knew how much I wanted them after I first met them. Gargoyle geckos have beautiful eyes and sweet tempers, and these are a joy. Dru is the female and has lost her tail, though it makes her no less lovely. We got them in September of 2004. Named after Drusilla from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, though I don't care all that much for the character. It's still a great gothy name. Drusilla passed away in 2006.
Spike
Purchased from Clarissa because she knew how much I wanted them after I first met them. Spike has his tail and, though he's a bit less social than Dru, they made a lovely pair. He's named after the character from Buffy. C'mon, I had to! Spike isn't very social, but he's beautiful and interesting to watch.

Mantella Frog

Robin - deceased
He's so beautiful! This little baby is only about an inch long in a restive posture and wasn't very expensive for his gorgeousness, only $25. We got him on September 25, 2004 at the exotic pet show. He likes to hide, but it's worth it when he comes out and shows himself. Named after Kermit's nephew on The Muppets. Died on July 10, 2005.

Mali Uromastyx

Briscoe - deceased
We bought Briscoe in October of 2004. He was underweight and not as colorful as he should have been, but he quickly perked up with a better diet and proper lighting. While far from personable in temperment, Briscoe was a cutie and named after the character of the same moniker on Law & Order. Briscoe died of unknown causes in January 2006.

Rats

Ford - deceased
Purchased from Rattius Maximus in June 2005. Ford is sweet, cuddly, and a big boy to be sure. He'll lick your fingers like a puppy when you give him attention, and he's just generally absolutely precious. He is a mink dumbo. I lost my baby in 2007. I still miss him.
Godiva - deceased
Purchased from PetSmart in 2008. Unfortunately several months later, she ended up getting diarrhea, and despite our attempts to nurse her back to health, she didn't make it. She was my first pretty little hairless girl, and I loved her despite how skittish she could be.
Marvin - adopted
We adopted Marvin, a cute agouti male, from PetCo around the same time we got Ford and Zaphod. Unfortunately he quickly developed a penchant for biting both us and the other rats. Even neutering didn't stem the tide, so we adopted him out to someone with more experience who was better able to help him.
Nyxi - deceased
We got her from Rattius Maximus once again in May 2006 so that Ford wouldn't get too lonely. She was a precious little black and white dumbo. Very sweet and very active - she gave Ford a run for his money before he passed away. After a struggle with tumors, Nyxi passed away in 2008.
Peach
Adopted from a family who weren't able to keep her or her cagemate any longer. Thankfully I had plenty of spare space, so they came to roost with us!
Pyxi
Purchased from PetCo in 2007. She was beautiful, lively, and I absolutely couldn't resist her as a cagemate for Nyxi after Ford passed away. She is the most affectionate female rat I've run across so far. Unfortunately Pyxi devloped a mammary tumor and eventually passed away in 2009.
Snowcap
Purchased from PetSmart at the same time as Godiva. She's inquisitive, active, and a lot of fun to watch. Isn't fond of being cuddled, but she'll tolerate it if it means she gets exploration time or a treat.
Zaphod - deceased
Also purchased from Rattius Maximus in June 2005.Though never the cuddler Ford is, Zaphod was always a sweet little boy. He was an absolutely beautiful american blue dumbo. Unfortunately he developed an abcess after we had he and Ford neutered, and it never really got better. Eventually the infection spread and though we had it operated on, Zaphod didn't make it. He died on April 6, 2006.
Zelda
She was adoped with her cagemate Peach and is a real sweetheart. Looks very much like Pyxi, though she isn't a dumbo.

Sugar Gliders

Angelique - sold
Purchased from the same folks we got the pygmy mouse from as a companion for Voltaire on September 25, 2004. She was the best-behaved of the little girls. Her first night in the house, she was already willing to take fruit right from my hand. She and Voltaire are now the best of "special" friends... though now that Volly is fixed, the friendship is more platonic than before. She's named after a character from Dark Shadows. She went home with a wonderful lady and her twins in March 2006.
Sebastian - deceased
Sebastian was Angelique and Voltaire's baby. We first noticed him in the pouch as a little bulge in February of 2005. When he finally came out, he was beautiful and sweet and, we came to notice, a little boy. We got Voltaire neutered once Sebastian seemed in the clear since we wanted to keep our little family a threesome. Unfortunately on July 8, 2005, we came home to find Sebastian outside of the pouch where his parents were sleeping with a barely-there heartbeat. He died less than ten minutes later.
Voltaire - sold
We got him from Petland on September 17, 2004. He is sweet-tempered and affectionate and not at all prone to straying far from Wes, who he is bonding to. He's named after a singer of the same moniker whose site can be found here. Went with Angelique to a new home in March 2006.

Trinket Snakes

Charm - deceased
One of two lovely trinket snakes we purchased as a breeding pair in fall of 2005. Neither are particularly good-tempered, but they are cute. His coloring is a bit more yellow than the female's. Unfortunately didn't live much longer than Ella.
Ella - deceased
The female of our pair. Lovely though a bit duller in color than Charm. Naturally they are named in honor of CInderella and Prince Charming. We found her dead on February 6th, 2006.
