Email if you want it. It doesn’t matter in the end what Daniel says. No matter how much he begs or pleads or bargains. Elijah will still turn away. Dan knows all of the reasons by now. All of the reasons why Elijah will not let Dan kiss him, touch him, love him. Elijah is too old. Dan is too young. It’s illegal just about everywhere. The fans would never approve. Dan doesn’t really know what he wants. Dan’s still a virgin. He doesn’t really want his good friend Elijah to be his first. It would screw everything up. But in his mind, Dan doesn’t care what Elijah’s reasoning is. Because sometimes, when they get together to have their little big-brother-little-brother, socializing/slash/bonding time, Elijah will look over at him, and his ice blue eyes will burn with something more than friendship and common understanding. His eyes burn with lust and want and just sometimes, Dan convinces himself, love is there too. So the night before he turns 16, Dan calls up his good friend Elijah, who’s in LA taking time off between one big movie and another. And he tells Lija a few things that he feels he needs to say, that he feels are of great importance. "You aren’t too old. I’m not too young. Sixteen, Elijah, in ten minutes I will be sixteen, the age of consent here. Who cares what the fans think. I know what I want Lij. I want you. I want you, my very good friend Elijah, my very sexy friend good friend Elijah to be my first. I promise not to hate you in the morning..." he hears only heavy breathing on the other end of the line. And then Elijah speaks. "I’m on the first plane out..." "Good." "Dan?" "Yeah?" "You sure?" the voice is hesitant from thousands of miles away, reluctant even. "Definitely." The word came out precise and smooth and Dan seems sure of himself for the first time in weeks. "Happy Birthday, Daniel." There’s a click as the line disconnects. Dan smiles and glances at the clock on his bedside table. 12:02 AM it reads. Dan smiles and rolls over in his too small bed. Tomorrow plans to be very interesting.
